Hasn't Apple spent the past decade deciding to change connectors on a whim. I mean on the laptop side they couldn't keep a charging port the same for more then 2 model years in a row. Now we are supposed to believe they care about the accessories you bought? What did Apple change it's business model last night?

Most customers want to keep the same connector, because they already have chargers and cables, and sometimes even accessories, for it.
USB-C is better in the long run, but that doesn't make it better now.
